MORE SOCKS

My sweet youngest daughter sent me a Mother's Day gift. SOCK YARN! This package seems to have travelled from NC to MD via Pony Express. It took over a week, but it finally got here. These are going to be yummy socks. I casting on today ... RPM socks.
My mom is still visiting from Florida. I haven't gotten very much sewing done. Knitting and visiting are easy multi-tasking activities.

HMMM ... youngest daughter gave me sock yarn ... do you think she expecting SOCKS?

BITS AND PIECES

How crazy has the weather been?!! It's only supposed to be a high of 58 today. What happen to the warm, sunny, sandal-wearing weather we were having? I actually wore my newest socks yesterday, thought it might be 6 months before I needed them. The pattern is called, "What Happens in Vegas" by Knitters Brewing Company and they were NOT for wimpy knitters. It's hard to see in the photo but there are dice knit in the pattern and the left and right socks are mirror images ... what an accomplishment!
Pat Sloan's free pattern: It's 5:00 Somewhere finally got finished. I started it ages ago (years) and it's done ... HURRAY! This quilt might end up at the youngest daughter's house. She requested a "summery" quilt.

My mom is here (in MD) visiting. We've really been enjoying our time together ... talking, eating, laughing, eating, talking and ... eating. My mom used to be a fabulous cook but she's done - cooked all she's ever going to cook and now it's my turn. I love it that my mom now looks forward to coming to MY house to eat MY cooking.

A GIANT HANK OF YARN

Not much quilting has been going on this week at my house. A little gardening and a little knitting. Remember this giant hank of yummy yarn? It's actually 12 different types of yarn all dyed the same.

My friend Starlyn helped me roll it all up today. I think it makes a more artistic statement as a giant hank but rolled into yarn cakes ... it's now calling out for a knitting pattern.

Here's a close up of a few of them.

The hank came with a sweater pattern and the smart thing to do would be to make THAT sweater. But ... there might be something else out there.

AND ... because I suffer from TMP and thought I needed another project ... here's a little beading thing I started last week. I'm new to beading and quite proud of how it looks so far. This is NOT a kitty friendly activity!

SPRINGTIME = PANSIES

Nothing quilty to show off today. Tomorrow - I promise! I do have a few little springy things to show you. It's a beautiful sunny, warm (low 70's) day. This tree in my yard is a Japanses Maple (I think). It has cute little pink flowers right now. They only last a few days, then it will have red leaves until winter. And ... I did get my pansies planted! Aren't they pretty?
Not that I need them today, but I finished my Social Butterfly socks. The next KAL with Wendy at Knitter's Brewing will start on April 9th. Get your yarn ready, we're going to Vega$ baby!

KNIT-A-LONG

OH MY ... 2 sock-knitting posts in a row. I really am a quilter - honest! I just couldn't resist a quick post about this new KAL hosted by Knitters Brewing. It's called Social Butterfly and has beads knitted into the sock. Another new technique and a new type of cast-on. Stringing 99 beads onto yarn ... well ... let's just say it's not a kitty-friendly activity.
Today I'm sewing with my buddy Dawn and I WILL have quilt photos for tomorrow - promise!
It's not too late to join the KAL, the first clue was just released today.

SNOW DAY #12 or 13 (?)

Is it snowing at your house? HOLY MOLY ... we're having a blizzard! It's been snowing since Tuesday afternoon and it's still snowing Wednesday evening. Here's the cute husband playing with his new snowblower. Who would have thought we'd need a snowblower? Some years we get a winter total of 12". So far this year ... 77.5" and it's still snowing!
Here's our mailbox. Not sure if the mail carrier can even get to it.
After the 20+ inches we got over the weekend, the cute husband cleared off the deck table. Here it is at 11:00 this morning. It's 8:00 at night and still snowing.

So ... that's how cute husband spent HIS day. This is how I spent MY day. I cut out the pieces to make this bag exactly a year ago. It's for carrying a cutting mat and rulers. Today - finished!

Here's the apron I cut out before Christmas and never sewed a stitch. Today - finished! This isn't a great picture - the apron is really much cuter.
AND ... because I needed to have a project that would allow me to watch the snow ... did I mention we have A LOT of snow? I decided to learn how to make "toe-up" socks and to double the learning curve ... 2 at a time socks! So far, so good.

Just heard on TV - we've gotten 20+ inches AGAIN today. That's over 40" in a week!
