FRIDAY FINISH

My finishes for this week were for my friend Dawn. She posted some great photos of the "Mountain Baby Blanket" quilts I did. I also quilted a really pretty blue and green quilt for her. It's not my quilt to Sew 'n Tell and it's going to be in a magazine so I don't think Dawn can show it off yet. But - it sure is pretty! I can show you the back ...

Joann's is carry some great quilting fabrics. I will always support my local quilt shops (and some not-so-local quilt shops) but sometimes it is nice to do a quick run through Joann's - especially for backing fabrics.

After making socks ... lots and lots of socks ... I've decided to make myself a sweater. I was a crocheter long before I was a knitter and I'm loving how this sweater is turning out. The left front is done and I'm working on the back. The whole body is done as one piece! The pattern is from The Crochet Closet by Lisa Gentry

And this ...

This is for dessert tonight - a family favorite - Chocolate Trifle. My 14 year old niece and nephew are arriving today for a week-long visit. This is John's all-time favorite and because I am the best aunt, I made it special for him.

OK ... really I made it because I'm panicked. I have 2 teenagers, who live 3 minutes from the beach in Florida and have a great community pool, coming to MD where we are 3 HOURS from the beach and we've got a hose. 2 years ago, Krista came to visit and we sewed and shopped for a week. This time, she's coming with her brother and somehow I don't think sewing will be on the agenda. Baseball game - yes, quilt shop - probably not ... pray for me.

I love that shade of blue, and that sweater is going to be gorgeous! I admire anyone who knits or crochets, because that gene must have skipped a generation with me. Nice quilting on the baby quilts!

What a pretty blue! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with your 2 teenagers, even if quilt shopping is not on the agenda!

Don't forget to buy twice as much food as you would normally purchase for the week that teenager John is there! When my boys left for college, our food bill went down by 2/3!!!

What a sweet aunt! I have a feeling you'll make it a memorable trip for them both.

I'm totally salivating over the trifle.

Can't wait to see the completed sweater!
