I'm still stuck on this whole recycle - upcycle - repurpose thing. I THINK this is a "repurpose." When I was making this quilt (which I still have not decided to actually give away yet). I thought I'd like strippy setting triangles ... I did not. So I repurposed them (I think).
They were already made and cut into triangles, so I sewed them together.
And then cut them apart and sewed them together again.
And then I cut them into pieces and quilted them. Here's a VERY scientific way of cutting rounded edges ... there's actually some little blocks in that yogurt container, I just carefully flipped it upside down.
After all the cutting apart and sewing back together and cutting apart and sewing back together ... I made a messenger bag.
With a zipper ...
and a back pocket ...
and a VERY cute yo-yo and button pretend closure ...
It's pretend because I really used a magnetic snap under the flap. The button is just pretty.
There are lots of patterns for messenger bags out there. Some are even free - like this one and this one. I read over several and used parts of each and then threw in my own variations. Daughter #2 will be getting this for Valentine's Day. By the way - her request for a black and gray bag.
