We made these great little tote/buckets at the retreat. Several of the quilters took the challenge to practice machine quilting. This is a great project for practicing ... the quilting is not the star of the show.
Using just batting (Frankenbatt is the BEST) and your lining fabric, quilt away ... practice your feathers, free-motion, pebbles ... just quilt and enjoy it.
Here's my practice piece.
Now, simply use this as the lining of whatever pattern you want. It's great for the inside of anything. The quilting doesn't show (much). You can practice quilting and then actually use the practice piece.

These would make great gift bags. Use novelty fabric for the outside part and personalize the bag. They really are fast and easy. You get to practice and get better at machine quilting, make a thing and make someone feel special when you gift them.
