A Humble Quilt

Yesterday I quilted this ...

It's a humble quilt, made from old clothes.  It's another, "my mom made it and didn't finish it" quilt, another daughter who doesn't sew but appreciates the work, the time and the love that went into the piecing.

She picked a fun and funky backing (and it did help ... some.)

My suggestion (and she agreed), the quilt wasn't made for, nor could I accomplish anything fancy, so it got a simple over-all meander.  Working with this top was a challenge - the fabrics are ALL knits.

I swear my mom wore clothes made from some of these exact fabrics. Remember "pants suits" in the '60's?  Who thought that polyester, double-knit stuff was a good idea?  The quilt will be gifted back to "mom" as a 40th wedding anniversary present.

I love quilts made from old clothes. I used to save them, but had to clean out the house, wish I had them now. That will be a wonderful gift for your mom.

No doubt it was a challenge to quilt this one, but what a labor of love!

And as if pants suits weren't bad enought, then our dads wore leisure suits! Ackkk!
You're right about the meander. Chances are that that polyester will last longer than her house will, LOL!
