PROGRESS REPORT

I've been sitting and looking at this all morning. Well, actually, I've been making bags this morning while looking at this ...

I can't decide if I love this pieced sashing.  The background (not really showing up in the photo) is a lightish blue tone-on-tone.  Do you think the sashing overpowers the blocks? Be honest ... I'm hoping it works, but I need help.

Here's a closer view of "March." Sorry it's a little blurry.

I was gifted already cut out batik triangles and have sewn them together and squared them up and have over 600 half-square triangles. They really need a home or a quilt.

Here's your chance to be a design expert ... let me know what you think.

Although I'm big on using geometrics with curves, and vice versa, this sashing is way too overwhelming for the delicacy of the blocks. The brilliant colors in the batiks compete too much with the softer colors in the blocks. For this quilt, I would probably use a sashing made from three strips of color/white/color that would meet at the corners in a nine patch. Simple. Uses a focal color from the quilt. Is geometric to give the curves balance. Is crisp, where the blocks are more whimsical.
Just sayin'....
