TN TRIP - NASHVILLE

On the last leg of our "Tour Tennessee Trip" we headed to Nashville, with a quick side trip to Lynchburg, TN - where Jack Daniels is made.  VERY interesting process that is still pretty much done the same way it's always been done, including drawing water from the cave springs (right behind this statue).
It was also interesting to note ... Jack Daniels is made in a dry county and can't be sold directly (and NO samples in the gift shop).  They got a special ordinance passed in 1995 so that they can sell "commemorative bottles that you can take home and admire ... and if you choose to drink it, well, that's ok too."

We went to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  I was so interested in reading and looking (and listening) that I took NO pictures inside.
Probably my favorite ... visiting the original Ryman Theater.  The Grand 'Ol Opry was broadcast here from 1943 to 1974, when it moved to it's bigger, more modern home.  It sat empty for 20 years and was going to be torn down.
1994, the Gaylord group wisely decided to save her, spent lots of $$ and brought her back.  The Opry is once again broadcast from here a couple nights a week.  The tour was great ... lots of history and some great stories.  As often happened, a group was discovered playing in the back alley and invited in one night - they became the Everly Brothers.

This was my only celebraty sighting ... the guy on the right came home with me!

Did you go into the Gaylord? I wondered how it looks now after the flooding a couple of years ago. I sure miss the Quilt show in Nashville. All under one roof, including the show and hotel.

That looks like a fun place to visit and the mountains there are beautiful.
