FRIDAY FINISH

In between entertaining 14 year olds, I managed to get the binding on this lovely thing...

This is #2 of 3 queen-sized quilts I'm making for my sister. I've already made 11 twin-sized ones for her home in VT. You really should check this out.

I was a little short on the fabric for the backing and really wanted to use up what I had so I threw in a couple of rows of strips that were leftovers from the front.

Here's a close-up of the quilting ...

Is this just so pretty! It was such an easy quilt to make ... even if it did take 8 months. Snowball blocks and 9-patch blocks. Deb wanted fresh, bright and pretty - think I managed it!

This was going to be her 2010 Christmas gift but I don't want to wait. My niece and nephew are flying out today from MD to VT. I'm sending it with them. I may not be the "fun aunt" but I think I qualify for the "best sister" award!

Mary, the quilt is just lovely! What yummy fabrics you've used. You managed to go scrappy and yet maintain an overall feeling of "fresh". Very cool pattern too.

Yes, I do indeed think you qualify as the bestest sister ever!

Wow. I really love that snowball quilt! You did a beautiful job! I recently joined a snowball quilt-along and have had fun with that! I am doing two of the same quilt and now I may just have to do a third, with nine-patch blocks. Very fun, very scrappy and you totally get my vote for the 'best sister' award! Nice finish!

P.S. I forgot to say that I like the strips down the back of the quilt. I love it when there is a little something on the back. And while I'm commenting again, I have to say again that you did such a beautiful job. I love the colors! Thanks for sharing!

I love all the quilts Mary. I have a pattern similar to your snowballs and roll of strips in really bright fabrics to make it. That will be my fall project as I don't need any more fall quilts!

Your sister is lucky to have you!
