Ok ... to all my bloggy friends ... I can only say - I'M SORRY! I'm cheating, I know, it's not nice. Please forgive me. I did finish a quilt top, it's called "It's 5:00 Somewhere" and it looks great. But, no photo - yet. It's on the frame and I had the best of intentions. Given 2 more hours and it would be done, 2 and 1/2 and it would be quilted AND bound. But ... it's not finished.
My mom is coming to visit. You KNOW how that goes ... laundry, clean the bathroom, sheets on the bed, ironing, bake blueberry muffins, weed the garden, buy more flowers, plant more flowers, vacuum, wash the windows (I honestly DID this), clean the kitchen, go to the post office, bake corn bread for dinner, MAKE dinner, brush the cats (she hates cats), wash off the patio furniture ...
Because my mom is coming to visit, I suddenly became 12 again and HAD to get my chores all done before I could do something fun like finish a quilt. After all, my mom raised 5 kids (and a few extras a times) and our house ALWAYS looked magazine perfect and she ALWAYS had something fresh out of the oven. And she truely will NOT care WHAT my house looks like ... but ... still ... my mom is coming ... you KNOW how that is ... right?
Oh, almost forgot ... I did have a finish earlier in the week - a bag for my daughter. That's why I had to run to the post office. HURRAY ... I'm not cheating!!
That photo at the top? It has nothing to do with this post. I just couldn't click the "publish post" button without a picture of something.

Isn't it funny how we feel like we have to impress our moms - and yet they saw what our rooms looked like when we were kids and probably don't expect anything better? Lovely roses, by the way! Enjoy your visit with your mom!
Inspiration comes in many forms on our Sew & Tell Fridays, but I fully appreciate what you brought this time, as well. It's a great reminder. I, too, am raising five children, and it's been a while since I ran a tight ship (magazine-perfect, fresh from the oven), as we have been in transition for nearly two years now. What a great way to honor your mother in preparation for her visit. And what joy it is to do all of the things you mentioned!
Ack! I know just what you mean, but my mom's not alive. However, my daughters-in-law are....
LOL! I think you can be forgiven. Just reading your list made me tired! Have a great time with your mom.
