NEW IRON

Does your iron have a nice pointy tip? That's important to me - makes pressing open seams easier. Pressing open seams? Yeah, I know ... not a typical quilter thing. But I like to press open my seams on small things - less than 2". It makes them layer flatter, not so bulky. I suddenly found myself in a real pickle last week. My "good" iron has not been behaving well. After about a year, my expensive iron started spitting. Spitting isn't nice whether it's coming from a child OR an iron. After spitting for about 6 months, it started leaking a steady stream of water... REALLY not nice. How annoying is that! So ... off to Target we go. The Cute Husband was checking out all the irons and was NOT happy with me when I picked out the $19.00 one. He was aiming for the $59 one. NO WAY ... I already did an expensive one and it did not hold up as long as my last cheapo Black and Decker.
Isn't this one just bee-u-tee-full ...

I've wondered about my own iron. It seems to be running hotter than usual. I turn mine off and on pretty often. Not sure what that does to it. Anyway the feature I want to avoid on my next iron is the one that turns the iron off automatically. My sister had that feature and I just could NOT get the thing to iron right. I'll keep yours in mind when it's time to replace mine.

Laughing at this funny post! I'm not sure how this habit evolved, but I like to use distilled water in my iron. Keeps it clean and spit free. Hope you and your new buddy are getting along well and that it has good manners.
