Philanthropy

Dr. Azizia Shad hosted a thank you reception for donors and sponsors of the Pediatric Oncology unit at Georgetown Hospital.  Southern Comforters of Bowie (my guild) donates quilts (LOTS of quilts).  Every newly diagnosed kid gets a quilt.  Sometimes siblings get a quilt.  Sometimes a mom gets a quilt. Anyone who needs a little extra comfort might get a quilt.

The food was great, the thank you was truly heartfelt.  Being there, visiting the clinic, meeting a couple who's son was just diagnosed (the newest members of the "club" that no one wants to belong), is beyond words. I will continue to quilt for this group as long as the need is there and I am able.

There's a great mobile hanging in the hallway.  It was made by the kids and parents.
