Run-Around Bag

This is a great little bag for running around. And - it's a fun and easy bag to make.  It was designed for Moda Honey Buns - 1 1/2" strips - but I've made it several times with assorted fabrics, scrappy strips and just one fabric.

What's unique about it is that you prepare the fabric - whether strips or just one piece of fabric and then you construct the bag - just a couple of seams.  The outside and the lining are done at the same time. Easy peasy.

Of course - I had to make changes.
I added a skinny strap: cut fabric 3" x ?.  I've done it WOF (42") but prefer over-the-body length of about 50".  Fold the long edges to the center, then fold in 1/2.  Stitch close to both outer long edges.  Stitch to the side of the bag.

I did not use fusible batting. I used scraps of leftover (thinnish) batting and quilted the fabric.  I did NOT use a backing fabric - just the top and batting and meandered it.

I added an inside pocket with a zipper.  Here's a great tutorial for that. And here's a great source for zippers.  They offer a variety of sizes and colors.  I like the assorted 9" and 10".  Can't beat the price = 25 zippers for $25.00.

I tried taking pictures with the idea of my own tutorial but ... you've heard it hear before - I'm a quilter NOT a photographer.

I love this bag pattern! I've never put a strap on it though. Great idea!
