My youngest daughter (Kid#2) left home yesterday - again. It was surprisingly emotional. She's left home twice before in the last 10 years and she's a grown up, responsible adult who should be on her own.
But she's been my morning coffee-buddy for 1 1/2 years and I'm already missing her. AND - Harleigh, the Wonder Dog left too. They moved 14 hours away - to Florida. Not to another planet, not even another time zone but they weren't sleeping in MY house last night.
So - what's a mother to do? SEW!
I decided my Twisted Strings quilt needed a scrappy binding and dug into my basket of leftovers. I found a total of 180" of red and needed 168". How perfect is that!
Kid#2 is all about the "smaller footprint". She would approve.
